Well done Sienna!

Well done Sienna, we are delighted to see your hard work and determination pay off!

After a twelve-month long process involving more than fifty days of isolating and regular testing, Sienna finally experienced the joy of playing for the England U16 hockey team in the summer International fixtures against Scotland and Wales.

As a member of the core twelve players involved in all fixtures, Sienna gained significant professional experience. And when appointed Captain and Vice for a couple of the fixtures, she had the privilege of leading her team on the pitch under international protocol.

The team recorded wins in all five matches played. Sienna was heavily involved by playing in a midfield role and assisted her team to victory by scoring a number of field goals and converting her penalty shuffles. During competition time, the team followed many of the rules and regulations that the senior team are currently experiencing in Tokyo at the Olympics. This gave players an insight into what it is like at major competitions.

Despite not being able to travel to Europe due to coronavirus restrictions, the team still had to embrace playing in high temperatures due to the heatwave in England. This enhanced their understanding of game management along with personal preparation and recovery. The whole process from start to finish was an awesome professional experience in which a significant amount of learning took place.

We are very proud of Sienna’s achievement so far and wish her every success going forward. We hope this shows our students that with the right amount of desire, determination and dedication anything can be possible!
