The King William’s College Combined Cadet Force (CCF) had the fantastic opportunity to take part in the Guard of Honour for Her Majesty, Queen Camilla, who visited the Isle of Man on Wednesday.
The Queen’s one-day visit was to confer city status on the Borough of Douglas. The capital was named a city as part of the celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Thirty-two students from King William’s College joined fellow cadets, instructors and officers from cadet organisations across the Island to form the Guard of Honour for the Queen’s visit. This involved lining the Government House driveway for Her Majesty’s arrival and departure. They also formed up for her walk around the gardens.
Second Lieutenant Stuart Headon is the Staff School Instructor for CCF at King William’s College. He said: “We are so proud of our Cadets and how they presented themselves on the day. They did a fantastic job and it was a pleasure to welcome Her Majesty to the island.”
