KWC TEACHER RECEIVES OUTSTANDING REVIEW FOR DIRECTING CHICAGO

We’re pleased to share that Mr. David Dawson, a valued member of our faculty at King William’s College, received high praise from The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) for his direction of The Douglas Choral Union’s recent production of Chicago. The production was a great success, drawing an audience of over 6,000 (approximately 7.5% of the Isle of Man’s population).

NODA, a UK-based organisation that supports and promotes amateur theatre, described the production as “completely and utterly sensational from first moment to last.” Reviewer Adam Calvert commended on Mr. Dawson’s meticulous direction, stating:

“If there’s a list of amateur UK directors working at the sublime level he’s achieved in this show, it will have very few, if any, other names on it. Transcendent work. No notes.”

The production, staged at the Gaiety Theatre from the 7th – 15th of February, captivated audiences with its “breath-taking choreography,” “razor-sharp musicianship,” and “dazzling costumes.”

Reflecting on the experience, Mr. Dawson shared:

“The most rewarding part of this production was watching the cast and crew come together and create something truly special. Theatre is a team effort, and I’m so proud of what we achieved together.”

We’re also proud that Ms. Lauren Molyneux, another valued member of our faculty, performed as a dancer in the production, further strengthening the school’s connection with the island’s theatre community.
