King William’s College Alumna Anastasiia has won The Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prizes award.
The ceremony, which was held on Monday 19th December in Douglas saw an impressive list of finalists, including seven pieces from King William’s College students out of the Isle of Man’s 20 entries.
Finalists from College included Ava T, Natalie S C, Francesco F and Sebastian J, Sophie B and Tanna F, but it was Anastasiia who took home the prize for her work titled ‘Chernobyl’.
Anastasiia receives the award and an incredible £800, which Mrs Parry collected on her behalf. The work will now go into the Global Sovereign competition, uniting all regional winners from Hong Kong, Bahrain, Gibraltar, Guernsey, London, Malta, Mauritius, Portugal and Singapore in an annual Global Students Prize exhibition.
Anastasiia is currently studying Foundation Art and Design at University of The Arts London.
The Sovereign Art Foundation (SAF) Students Prizes are annual awards that celebrate the importance of art in the education system and recognise the quality of artworks produced by secondary-school students across the world. It was established in the Isle of Man in 2017 and entrants are from secondary school’s across the Isle of Man who have been nominated by their teacher. The aims and objectives of SAF Students Prizes is to recognise the work of talented secondary-school level art students around the world and exhibit their work to a wide and engaged audience and to celebrate the importance of art in the education system.
