Last week saw an enormous amount of hockey being played both on and off Island. A total of 15 matches were played in five days. On Island the girls completed their Island school fixtures against Ballakermeen, which moves us into the semi-final and final stages of the Island competitions over the remaining three weeks of term.
Off Island the U18, U16 and U14 girls competed in the National Schools Cup in Manchester. It was great to get them away to play unfamiliar opponents. The U18s played two matches winning and losing a game against Merchant Taylors and Austin Fryers. The U16s performed brilliantly winning four from five games securing the runners up position. The U14s experienced their first school hockey matches off Island they found it very challenging but improved their performance as the day went on and recorded a 1.0 win against Liverpool College in the last match of the day. The girls and staff have to be congratulated for their efforts both on and off the pitch it was a logistically challenging but rewarding week for all involved.
