King William’s College announces new blended Sixth Form A-Level pathway alongside IB Diploma Programme

Having recently completed the move of The Buchan School to the King William’s College campus, the Governors and Senior Leadership Team are excited to announce the next significant update, about a pioneering addition to the School’s Sixth Form curriculum.

From September 2026, KWC will offer a blended Sixth Form A-Level pathway alongside its established International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

The school is entering into a collaboration with another independent school, King’s InterHigh, the UK’s leading global online school, via which KWC students will be able to study A-Levels via live supported online lessons from a newly created hub within the College campus.

Through this collaboration, twenty-two A-Level subjects will be available, including some not currently offered elsewhere on the Isle of Man. Students on the blended A-Level pathway will access the same outstanding pastoral provision and rich co-curricular experience as enjoyed by KWC IB students and will also be able to board full or part-time.

The fee for the new blended pathway will compare favourably with the average fee for independent Sixth Form education in the British Isles.

Principal Damian Henderson said:

“The aim of this ground-breaking initiative – a ‘school within a school’ – is to give choice to our new and existing families by providing a more affordable A-Level Sixth Form pathway for island and international students alike. We remain very proud to be an IB World School and firmly committed to providing in-person IB teaching. Introducing this new blended option for A-Levels next to IB will give more students the opportunity to reap the benefits of the KWC Sixth Form experience and our unique boarding offer.”

“Blended approaches to education are not new. The innovation here – not seen elsewhere – will be to offer supported live online lessons within an in-person learning community. We are tremendously excited about this new addition to our Sixth Form offering and our tie-in with King’s InterHigh”, he added.

The first blended cohort is expected to start their journey in September 2026 and applications will be accepted for Year 12 and Year 13 entry.

There is an information evening for prospective parents and pupils on Tuesday 10th February at 16:30.
